īy 2007, the event had outgrown its previous venue, and moved to the Washington State Convention and Trade Center, with a total attendance of 39,000. In 2009, Penny Arcade partnered with ReedPOP. Attendance grew rapidly, with over 9,000 attendees in 2005, and over 19,000 in 2006. The event was then held annually in August, at the same venue, for the next two years. The first PAX, known at the time as the Penny Arcade Expo, was held on August 28–29, 2004, in Bellevue, Washington, at the Meydenbauer Center, and was attended by approximately 3,300 people. Defining characteristics of the shows include an opening keynote speech from an industry insider, game-culture inspired concerts, panels on game topics, exhibitor booths from both independent and major game developers and publishers, a LAN party multiplayer, tabletop gaming tournaments, and video game freeplay areas. PAX was originally created in 2004 by Jerry Holkins and Mike Krahulik, the authors of the Penny Arcade webcomic, because they wanted to attend a show exclusively for gaming. PAX was previously held annually in San Antonio in the United States. PAX is held annually in Seattle, Boston and Philadelphia in the United States and Melbourne in Australia.

As soon as we have more information on these conventions we will let you all know.PAX (originally known as Penny Arcade Expo) is a series of gaming culture festivals involving tabletop, arcade, and video gaming. SHUX is also on our list of conventions we aim to attend, but the event organizers are still deciding on if they will be running it in 2022. There is a good chance we will be attending Gen Con in some capacity, but we do not yet know if we will have a booth. There are a few more conventions that we have not confirmed our attendance for, but are on our radar. More information on the community event can be found on the PAX website. Bring your friends to teach them the game, play against others in the community, and win prizes for doing so. We are also planning a community meetup/GNK at PAX’s Community room on Friday, April 22, from 5:30 – 8:30. The location of the Project NISEI booth at PAX East 2022.

Con-goers will also have the opportunity to purchase copies of System Gateway and the Midnight Sun Booster Pack, along with playmats and some other NISEI goodies. Our team will be running demos of System Gateway all weekend. Project NISEI is being hosted by the Knight Moves Cafe booth in the tabletop area, who are hosting independent tabletop creators. The first event in the 2022 convention season is PAX East, happening on April 21st through the 24th. Speaking of events at conventions, we have one coming up in less than a month… PAX East Our goal at these conventions is to teach the game to new players, let the world know what Project NISEI has been up to, as well as support the existing community with tournaments and other OP events. More details on the events at these cons will be announced later in the year.

We plan on attending both PAX Australia and Spiel Games Fair with a full convention team, and plan on running demos and tournaments at both conventions for everyone at these conventions that are unable to participate in Worlds. Unfortunately, this is completely out of our control. Our booths will be stocked with cards to purchase and a friendly group of volunteers ready to teach Netrunner to as many people as possible.Īs you may have noticed, two of our conventions are lining up with Worlds this year. Coming off the astounding support we got at PAX Unplugged late last year, Project NISEI is going on a world tour in 2022, with conventions all over the globe.
